Answer» Solution :Most of the minerals PRESENT in soil can enter plants through roots. In fact, more than sixty elements of the 105 discovered so far are found in different plants. All elements from such elements are not essential because some are macronutrients and some are micronutrients. e.g. (1) Some elements are known as structural elements of cells (C,H,O,N) (2) Some are components of ENERGY related compounds e.g Mg (3) Some activate or inhibit enzymes Zn,Mo,Mg (4) Some elements can alter the OSMOTIC potential (5) Some elements are essential for growth and reproduction. (6) Some are as part of metabolism. THUS all elements are not essential for survival. |
