Question : AmphibolicPathwayis seen in respiration. |
| Answer» Solution :Glucose is the formed substance for RESPIRATION. Moreover in some cases lipid and proteins are also usedas respiratorysubstrate. Lipid is BROKEN down into fatty acid and glycerol. Fatty acidbe degraded to acetyl CoAand glycerol gets converted into PGAL and enters respiratory pathway. But whenthe organismsneed to synthesize fatty acids, acetyl CoA would be withdrawn formthe respiratory pathway. Hence the respiratory pathway comes into picture bothduring breakdownand synthesis of fattyacid. Similarly in BREAKINGDOWN and SYNTHESISOF proteinrespiratory pathways areused. Hence anabolism and catabolism both are included in thispathway. So it is calledamphibolic pathway. | |
