Question : Both the thin and the thick segments of the ascending limb of Henle's loop transport NACl out to the interstitial fluid. What is the difference in their respective mode of transport ?

Answer»

Solution :In the DESCENDING limb of loop of Henle, because of HIGH osmotic pressure of MEDULLARY extracellular fluid, `Na^(+)` enters the tubule. In the ascending limb of loop of Henle, `Na^(+), K^(+)` and some `CL^(-)` ions are reabsorbed actively.
