In the embryonal axis of monocot just above the level of attachment of SCUTELLUM the epicotyl has a short apex and a few leaf primordia enclosed in a hollow foliar structure called the coleoptile .
In monocot embryonal axis the lower end has the radicle and root cap enclosed in an undifferentiated sheath called coleorrhiza .
