Solution :A compound leaf never bears a terminal bud WHEREAS a branch always bears a terminal bud. MOREOVER, a compound leaf always bears a bud in its axil (AXILLARY bud) but itself does not arise in the axil of another leaf, whereas a branch does not bear an axillary bud but itself OCCUPIES the axillary POSITION of a leaf.
