Solution :The pigments of leaves of the plant are separated by PAPER chromatography and it can be studied also.
Chromatographic separation of the leaf pigments SHOWS that the colour that we see in leaves is not due to a single pigment but due to four pigments :
(1) Chlorophyll a (bright or blue in the chromatogram),
(2) Chlorophyll b (YELLOW green),
(3) Xanthophylls (yellow colour),
(4) carotenoids (yellow to yellow orange).
