Answer» SOLUTION : (i)Some plants like potato , elephant.s FOOT, ginger, turmeric, colocasia are stems in reality but its part remains underground and gains various shape by storing food. Thus other than root, stems are also underground Similarly stem is underground in onion and garlie and their scaly LEAVES store food and become fleshy. (ii) Flower is a modified shoot meant for sexual reproduction. The different parts of flower like stalk, sepals, petals , stamen and carpel, elements are modifications of stem. They modify and get different shape and FORM a flower.
