Question : Meiotic division during oogenesis is different from that in spermatogenesis. Explain how and why? |
Answer» Solution : It makes ovum larger than the remaining three polar bodies by unequal mitotic DIVISION because there are many organelles and cytoplasm in ovum. It has many chances for rescue. Male produces sperms in lakhs of amount while FEMALE produces only one ovum in each month and it waits for TIME before fertilisation for second meiotic division. Sperm is SMALL and motile because it has to move from male REPRODUCTIVE system to female reproductive system. There is abundant stored food in large ovum so it develops immediately after fertilisation. |
