Question : Terrestrial animals are generally either ureotelic or uricotelic, not ammonotelic, why ? |
| Answer» Solution :Ammonotellic animals EXCRETE ammonia along with a large quantity of water. Ammonia is highly TOXIC and is SOLUBLE in water. So all ammonotelic animals are aquatic. But terrestial ureotelie-animals are mainly ureotelic or uricotelic because they NEED only very little water for excretion. i.e., TERRESTRIAL animals have to conserve water and cannot lose more water from their body. | |
