Answer» Solution :Hard, supporting and protective component of ANIMAL BODY form skeleton system. Study of skeletal system is Osteology. Skeletal system is formed of bones and few cartilages. It has a significant role in MOVEMENT shown by the body. Bone and cartilage are special type of CONNECTIVE tissue. The former has a very hard matrix due to calcium salts in it and the latter has slightly pliable matrix dur to chondroitin salts. In human beings, this system is MADE up of 206 bones and a few cartilgaes. It is grouped into two principal divisions - (i) the axial and (ii) the appendicular skeleton. |
