Question : Which are the sensory organs for smell and taste ? Give brief information. |
|
Answer» SOLUTION :The sensory organs DETECT all types of CHANGES in the environment and send appropriate signals to the CNS, where all the inputs are processed and analysed. Signals are then sent to different parts/ centres of the brain. This is how you can sense changes in the environment. We can smell through nose and detect the taste through tongue. Nose, is having, mucous, covered sensory Receptor which receives stimuli of smell, It is called smell receptor. They are made up of olfactory epithelium. It has three types of cells. (a) Bipolar olfactory nerve cells (b) Columnar epithelial cells (c) Mucous gland. Olfactory receptor are linked with olfactory bulb which is extension of limbic system. Olfactory bulb is situated at the anterior lobe of cerebral hemisphere, BENEATH ethmoid bone. Nose and Tongue both recognise soluble chemicals. In gustation (task) and smell, chemical sensations are functionally similar and interrelated. Tongue, identifies tastes by Taste BUD which possess Taste Receptor. Each food or drink.s taste is connected with various inputs in brain which gives sensation of complex tastes. |
