Time for Raghu and Assistant to finish work alone = 12

Total wage paid = Rs 8,400

Concept used:

Total work = time × efficiency

wage distributed in the ratio of efficiency

Calculation:

work	time	efficiency
Raghu	16	48/16 = 3
Raghu + assistant	12	48/12 = 4
Total work (LCM )	48

The efficiency of assistant = efficiency of Raghu + assistant - efficiency of Raghu = 4 - 3 = 1

The ratio of efficiency of Raghu to assistant = 3 ∶ 1

Wage received by assistant = (1/4) × 8400 = Rs 2,100.
