Read the passage given below and answer the following questions All those organic compounds in which a metal atom is directly linked to the carbon Atom is called organometallic compounds like CH3COOAg, CH3COONa, C2H5ONa are not organometallic compounds because the metal Atom is linked to oxygen Atom and not to carbon atom. Alkyl magnesium halides are commonly known as Grignard’s reagent . They are highly reactive compounds they react with all of those compounds which can donate a proton then they form hydrocarbons. The hydrocarbon form depends upon the alkyl group of Grignard’s reagent. Grignard’s reagent reacts with water or moisture oxygen and carbon dioxide therefore it is prepared and used in absence of Air moisture under inert atmosphere. In Grignard's reagent added carbon magnesium bond is covalent but highly polar. The carbon atom pulls electrons from electropositive magnesium. Thus the magnesium halogen bond is essentially Ionic.i. ASSERTION – Grignard reagent should be prepared under anhydrous conditions.REASON- Grignard’s reagent reacts with moisture to form alkane a). Both assertion and reason are true, and reason is the correct explanation of assertion. b). Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion. c). Assertion is true but reason is false. d). Both assertion and reason are false.ii. ASSERTION - Sodium acetate is on organometallic compound REASON- The C-Na bond is ionic a). Both assertion and reason are true, and reason is the correct explanation of assertion. b). Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion. c). Assertion is true but reason is false. d). Both assertion and reason are false.iii. ASSERTION- In presence of ether ethyl chloride reacts with, magnesium to form ethyl magnesium chloride REASON- Ether contains acidic protons a). Both assertion and reason are true, and reason is the correct explanation of assertion. b). Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion. c). Assertion is true but reason is false. d). Both assertion and reason are falseiv. ASSERTION- The reaction between Grignard's reagent with alcohol give rise aldehydes. REASON - Alcohol contain acidic - H atom (a). Both assertion and reason are true, and reason is the correct explanation of assertion. (b). Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion. (c). Assertion is true but reason is false. (d). Both assertion and reason are falsev. ASSERTION- Organo metallic compounds are those which have one or more Carbon metal bond. REASON - Metallic carbonyls are organometallic compounds having both π and σ bonds a). Both assertion and reason are true, and reason is the correct explanation of assertion. b). Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion. c). Assertion is true but reason is false. d). Both assertion and reason are false |
