Refer to the given graph representing interplay of different hormones (A-D) during menstrual cycle in women and answer the question that follow. Which hormones are excreted in urine after menopause?A. AB. BC. CD. Both b and c |
Answer» Correct Answer - D B and C represent FSH and LH. They are excreted in urine after menopause. At about age of 45 years, the production of estrogen by the ovaries decreases as the number of priomordial follicles approaches zero. When estrogen production falls below a critical value. the estrogen can no longer inhibit the production of the gonadotropins (FSH and LH). Instead, the gonadotropins FSH and LH (mainly FSH) are produced after menopause in large and continous quantities. The same are then excreted in urine. |
