Answer» Renin is an enzyme in the conversion of the plasma protein angiotensinogen (produce by the liver) into angiotensinogen 1 and further to angiotensinogen 2. The later being a powerful constriction increase the glomerular blood pressure and angiotensinogen2 stimulate the adrenal cortex to produce Aldosterone which act on the cell of the ascending limb of the loop of henle and increase the role of reabsorption of Na+.
It is a hormone that acts as an enzyme which is secreted by specialised cells in the afferent artetioles of the kidney cortex.
