Seven times a number is 12 less than thirteen times the same number. Find the number.

Answer»

Let the number be x.

So, seven times of the number = 7x

Thirteen times of the number = 13x

According to question,

7x = 13x – 12

⇒ 12 = 13x – 7x

⇒ 6x = 12

⇒ x = 12/6 = 2

Thus, r -2 is the required number.
