Answer» Hormones are organic chemical substances released by a cell, or organ or a gland or any body partof plants and animals that functions in the regulation of physiological activities and to maintain homeostasis. General characteristics of hormones are asfollows: Hormones are secreted by endocrine cells. Hormones are chemical messengers. Hormones are a special messengers of the body that are produced by the endocrine glands. These messengers control most of the body functions right from the primary needs like hunger to complex system and function like reproduction and emotions. Two features of hormones are: 1) they are chemical signals that circulate in the body fluids.2) they regulate the behaviour of the target cells. |
