Show that : cos-1 x + sin-1 (1/√5) = π/4

Answer»

cos-1 x + sin-1 (1/√5) = π/4

= cos-1 x + sin-1 (1/√5) = π/4

= tan-1 (1/x) + (1/2)/(1 - (1/x)).(1/2) = π/4

= tan-1 ((2 + x)/2x)/((2x -1)/2x) = π/4

= tan-1 ((2 + x)/2x) x (2x/(2x - 1)) = π/4

= tan-1 (2 + x)/(2x - 1) = π/4

= (2 + x)/(2x - 1) = tan-1 π/4
