Show that the cirumference of the Bohr orbit for hydrogen atom is an integral multiple of the de Broglie wavelength associated with the electron moving around the orbit.

Answer»

SOLUTION :According to Bohr POSTULATE of angular momentum, `mvr= n h/(2PI) or 2 pi r=n h/(mv)` ...(i)
According to de Broglie equation, `lambda=h/(mv)` ...(ii)
Substituting this VALUE in eqn. (i) we get `2 pi r= n lambda`
Thus, the cirumference `(2pi r)` of the bohr orbit for hydrogen atom is an integral mutiple of de Broglie wavelength.
