We have,

((0.2x + 5)/ (3.5x – 3)) = (2/5)

By cross multiplication, we get

5 × (0.2x + 5) = 2 × (3.5x – 3)

x + 25 = 7x – 6

Transposing x to RHS it becomes – x and -6 to LHS it becomes 6.

25 + 6 = 7x – x

31 = 6x

x = 31/6
