Solve : Batch Job to select required IP Configuration.?

Answer»

Hi All,

I am one of six laptop users in the office that have in the past been forunate not to have had a NEED to setup our IP Configurations (ie: Using DHCP).  And this suited all as we all use DHCP at home also.

We've relocated to new offices this week and the office network requires all to specify IP Configuration details (IP/Snet/Gway).  Which is now becoming a hassle each morning we arrive at work (setting it up) and in the evenings when we get home (removing SAID entry).

Does any know of or can make suggestion of a batch script that would run at startup and ask which location the user is.  User RESPONDS and the script configures the NIC accordingly.

I'd be willing to give the script a shot if I knew what commands would require EXECUTING.  Unfortunately networking is not one of my strongest points.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers,
Cameron

Several thoughts since you dont have any replies yet, These are just thoughts and some others might have several ideas:
You could setup different network connections, connect to the one you need at home or work.
You could also setup your home system to match your work system, so if your work RANGE is 10.20.30.1 and your home is 192.168.10.1, change your home router to 10.20.30.1 and your static IP address would work at both places.
