Answer» Recently purchased this router "belkin adsl modem with wireless G router and wireless g usb network adapter" http://www.ebuyer.com/product/87512 and having trouble SETTING it up, i plugged everything in and followed the stages in the manual and installation screen and it still doesn't work. I tried uninstalling everything and reseting the router and trying again and nothing. We're unable to get on to the settings through 192.168.2.1 and when it did when the usb adapter is plugged in , we entered the details and when we click ok to confirm, the router loses connection. Any ideas what i can do ? ThanksHave you been able to access the router control panel at all? Sorry, I didn't really understand what you were saying. You've plugged the router in and all the lights that should light up lit up, right? You installed the adapter drivers from the CD if there was ONE and then plugged the adapter in, yes? After doing this you tried to access your router control panel at 192.168.2.1 but you can't? If you've just bought the router from Belkin then there should be a technical support number to ring on the box, although I don't know if the support centre will be in your country or how much the call would cost... Can you give more information about the problem please? Nope haven't been able to get on to the panel and to all the other questions yes. Called up belkin and they said it was a lan problem and there was nothing they COULD do So is your wireless adapter finding the network when you click search for wireless networks in range? Are you sure you've followed the manual CORRECTLY? You could try a full reset of your router, it should tell you how to do that in your manual. It's probably something as simple as you missed something out while setting it up. Belkin tech support should have at least walked you through the set up and yes, it is a problem with the LAN lol, the LAN their equipment, which you paid for, is supposed to provide.
Sorry, I just read you've tried re-installing and reseting the router. Am I right in thinking the modem works correctly when your not trying to connect to it, does the internet/broadband light up on the router?
Quote and when it did when the usb adapter is plugged in , we entered the details and when we click ok to confirm, the router loses connection. What details did you enter? Are you using a program installed from a disc to manage your networks? It may be better to uninstall this and use windows to manage your networks. Try removing the adapter, uninstalling the software, restart the PC and then plug the adapter back in, hopefully windows will say it's detected new hardware and then say the hardware is ready for use, once it's done this go into control panel and then network connections, under network task click setup a new connection and click the highlighted Search for wireless networks in range. Select your router and click connect and enter the key if needed... Let me know if this works.
