Answer» Don't laugh ! I am done with my build and everything worked out great except, I cannot get my sons puter online. They have a cable connection at thier house and its connected to his ethernet cable INPUT on his MOBO. I cannot get an online connection ? Could it be that I forgot to get him a modem connected to his mobo on my build ? I assumed his asus A8N-VM CSM had one, looks like it doesn't ?You don't need an internal modem for broadband. Are the proper drivers loaded for the NIC? Are they using a router? Have you tried using the connection wizard to set up a connection?Proper drivers for the NIC << not real sure on that, its thru his asus mobo lan ethernet connection and it says we are connected at 100 mbps but cannot connect? I tried many times with connection wizard and it goes thru ok ? The IP address keeps changing though ? I am getting error 678 and error 711 ... ?
I tried pinging the IP and all 4 come back just fine ? no problems In the DOS command area i did a ipconfig / renew and got this error MESSAGE- " adapter local area connector 2 is not enabled for Dhcp " ?
" operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissable for this operation" Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I have to leave back to New England tomorrow at noon !
Scott :-/Is TCP/IP set for static or dymanic? If static, change to dynamic.
Cable should go straight thru without any login stuff to deal with like DSL (if you're using a router) and not straight through.
Alan <>< It does go straight thru and I will check the dynamic thing, thanks for info/help Alan !
** does anyone know of a FREE software DOWNLOAD which can run and fix the internet connection? ** My sons problem is still not resolved and I am not there to help him anymore.....
