Answer» hello... being quite NEW into networking, i m having truble understanding the n/w configuration here at my home which is done by a pro... i have a cable modem CONNECTED to a tv cable INFRASTRUCTURE. the cable modem is further connected to a wireless router so that i have wireless connection in my house... the wireless router is ALSO connected via a wired medium with a pc on which i am logged in at the moment... problem is that 1. i don't really understand the configuration, above configuration is wat i think it is. if i am wrong plz correct me 2. i don't know why my wireless internect connection is not working whereas wired connection is working... 3. which devices would be asssigned ip address, i know that my pc and laptop, both are assigned dynamically 4. there is default gateway assigned but i don't know whether this is the ip of modem or wireless router... (router should have ip but is it req. for the cable modem) 5. what is actually a cable modem 6. laptop has windows vista, so how do i get onto command prompt to issue commands like ipconfig, ping etc
