Solve : can not find wireless connection under network connections?

Answer»

I moved and had to switch computers around. Before I moved they worked fine.
After the move i made the computer that was my Main(wired) computer into a wireless computer but when i installed the wireless adapter(usb) I can not find a wireless connection under Network Connection. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter different ways. I even tried installing the adapter on a different computer and i got a connection then. Its like something is not letting me get connection. I have a local connection but not wireless.
im using a Dell 2400 with XP SERVICE pack 2When you install the wireless adapter into the computer, is it showing up in Device Manager without any errors?Yes under device manager it says the adapter is working correctly.Hm.

Try this.. Go back into Network Connections, Click on the Advanced on top, select Optional Networking Components, highlight Networking Services and click Details.

Make sure there is a CHECK in the box next to Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client. If there is not a check in that box, check the box and click on OK, then restart the computer..After booting, go into network connection and see if your wireless adapter is showing..

You might WANT to check in Control Panel as well, for managing your wireless adapter.. Dell uses proprietary software in some CASES, for managing network DEVICES.. Look in Control Panel for an icon that resembles a wireless beacon or tower... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870702
