Solve : Can't connect to internet (wireless) but it says I am connected. :S help please.?

Answer»

I have a wireless internet receiver built in to my laptop that picks up internet from my router. The box at the bottom says I am connected excelently and is sending and receiving packets but internet and msn and anything like that is not working. My stepdad has a laptop and his connects with it fine. I also have an internet DONGLE that connects to sattelite instead of router and that works fine on my laptop but costs 3 times as much. One day the internet was working fine I shut it down and stuff, Then the next day I rebooted and it didn't work.
Please help.same here! did you get a Fix? If so please share it w/me Thanx! jnellTo get help with this issue the admins will require you run an ip config. click Start>Run and type cmd then hit enter. in the command prompt type ipconfig /all then post the full log here (just copy and paste).Need...more...info...gasp

Operating system / antivirus & antispyware protection / service packs installed / when did it start happening / did it ever work right / installed any NEW software?

The "signal" you're getting is the connection to the router, not the Internet.

Alan <><  Turn off computer. Disconnect router, and modem from power source for 30 seconds.
Power them back on.
Restart computer.

If that doesn't work, bypass router, and connect computer straight to the modem.

If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Restart computer.

If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

At Command Prompt, type in:
netsh int ip reset reset.log
Hit Enter.
Type in:
netsh winsock reset catalog
Hit Enter.

Restart computer.

If that doesn't work...
Download, install, and run WinSockFix: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml
Restart computer, and check again. Quote from: ale52 on January 13, 2009, 07:38:03 AM
