Answer» I'm stumped on a system and wondered if anyone here might have some advice.
It's a Toshiba Satellite Pentium 4 with XP. It has an internal wireless card and the switch is turned on. It gets internet in safe mode. My initial reaction was to get rid of Norton. Got rid of it and nothing. I went to the network services in computer management and set all to "automatic". I uninstalled any other apps/services I thought could block it in msconfig. I have a reliable virus diagnostic tool and it only found cookies.
I figured because it has a connection in safe mode I didn't need to check IP config.
Any thoughts?
Thanks. It smells like malware to me. One AV program isn't really enough to be sure. I suggest you go through the steps LISTED here and let one of our malware experts LOOK over the logs.you were right. I ran a few more comprehensive tests and found some high risk backdoor threats. Some that connect using IRC server, etc. Thanks for your help.Don't mention it... I barely did anything. So EVERYTHING is fixed then?
