Answer» Our household CHANGED providers, but my desktop won't get on line. My desktop and laptop BOTH RUN XP SP3, and use TP-LINK WIRELESS cards. My laptop gets on-line FINE ( although the IP address is different than the one provided by our NEW ISP ). I have attempted all kinds of different configurations for both the network card AND the Windows wireless network.
I tried contacting TP-LINK, but I could not understand what the 'tech support' was telling me. He said he'd email instructions ... but hasn't.
Before the change, ALL three of the computers had NO PROBLEM accessing the internet ... NOW the main computer gets on FiNE - it has the wired connection. My laptop will get on FINE thru the wireless connection at the main computer ... but my DESKTOP will not.
MAIN: Dell Inspirion (I think) running XP DESKTOP: custom-built Dell XP SP3, TP-LINK wireless network card (353G), VIA chipset, NVIDIA GeForce 5200, Realtek AC '97 audio, LAPTOP: Dell C610 running XP SP# and TP-LINK wireless card
ANY ADVICE WILL BE APPRECIATED!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!Does the desktop computer see the wireless network? Does the desktop computer have the same ip address range as the the other MACHINES? Can the desktop ping the other machines (Start > Run> CMD then type in Ping BTW, after some re-configureing of MY wireless card ( IP address, DNS flushing, other DOS commands ) I am NOW able to get on the internet with our NEW ISP. THANKS FOR HELPING!!!!!!!!
