Solve : Computer turns on then off? |
|
Answer» Ok so first off i realize my first mistake was ordering a custom from cyber power pc. Beyond that i took care of my computer.... always cleaned of dust managing software clutter and what not. The problem STARTED one night when i was playing WoW and an old friend stopped by to say hi. So i logged off and let my comp idle on the desktop. About 30mins later i went back to it to show my friend a few things and i noticed my computer was off. Hmmm ok well i tried to unplug and replug the cord, switching the power setting on the psu and nothing worked. I carefully took out the psu (which was an xtremegear 750w) and replaced it with another to test (a thermaltake 460w). I managed to get the computer on but then it would just turn off 3 seconds later. When i switched the setting on this one to a lower setting it stayed on but i got no video which i mistook as not enough power for the video card. Now to today. I just recieved a 750w corsair and a new video card to put in my system and it just turns on then off repeatedly. I have removed my ram and troubleshot them. No change. Then i removed the vid card and still no change. I tried resetting cmos and it just wont stay on. I have noticed my CPU cooler fan wont spin like it should and fizzles out. So i thought it was the cooler but when i replaced it with my older cooler master heatsink it still didn't change a thing. Now this is the first post i have made and ive searched and searched for other options because god help me if my mobo is dead. The specs off the top of my head are as follows: It can be caused by a virus or corrupt BIOS or faulty motherboard component.....I don't mean to put you down or anything, nk, but viruses don't usually cause hardware components to fail... Also, BIOS errors don't crop out of nowhere... It is probably a problem with your motherboard's power circuitry, which may have been damaged with a line voltage spike... The only I can think of is to boot with only the CPU and 1 stick of RAM (no expansion or graphics cards inserted) and the motherboard flat on a test bench or on a piece of cardboard (some people have had old motherboards flex after YEARS of use in a tower and mysteriously become viable again when taken out of the case)yeah i actually took the whole heat sink off took out the ram again i disconnected EVERYTHING and then slowly re assembled it.... turns out the 4+4 psu to cpu connectors cause the *censored* thing to turn on and off.... i cant even have one of them in it without having that problem.... i connected a monitor to the vid card (since i have no on board graphics) and got no video....... bleh this is a pain.......Sometimes it takes more than SWAPPING components. It is really a pain when you cannot figure things out. Its now a matter of a mobo problem but sometimes a bad capacitor, resistor which requires more advanced technician knows would help you at this point. |
