Solve : VIDEO CARD?? What is it???? |
Answer» HELP!!! I've been having major computer problems, so I wiped out my primary and it erased everything. 1. Click start -> run... In the run box type dxdiag ... Press enter. If a small window displays, click no... You should now see a large grey box with all kinds of computer information inside... Click on the display tab, and look at the top-left for video card information... 2. Why can't you install the driver(s)? Any error messages? 3. Explain... [glb]Flame[/glb] I RAN the dxdiag and this is what I got: Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) vga.drv and Diamond Stealth Video VLB (s3) s3.drv I used the add new hardware and installed the driver from there. It is installed, but I still get only two color choices. 2 color and 16 bit. Uhhg. Solve : Need Help With Wi-Fi Driver for Gateway LT20 (Windows 7)? |
Answer» I am having trouble finding a Wi-Fi driver for my Gatway LT20 Netboook. I checked the Gateway website for the driver, but Gateway doesn't have any drivers for windows 7. This is a fresh installation of Windows 7 Service PACK 1 Starter Edition. I tried using Windows Update, but it constatlly says "checking for UPDATES" but not of the updates come up. Wireless LAN Driver BroadcomQuote from: Geek-9pm on October 08, 2015, 02:39:20 AM Where did you buy that model? Thank you so MUCH for the link you provided, it had the newest version of the Wi-Fi driver. And although it was ment for XP. I was able to go into device manager install the driver that way. Although the executable file would finish the installation, the device was still going unrecognized after using the executable installation. Where did you find that Gateway website? I don't understand why the website you linked to me too, would have a more recent version of the driver, as compared to the official gateway website?panam.gateway.com It is the gateway site. But a different section. I used kind of selective searching in Google to find the best match. But your RESULTS may vary a lot. Google wants to better guess and sometimes it works. Gateway does no explain way the panam section has better help. Glad it worked. I was thinking you would have to use compatibility mode. EDIT: Others also use the alternative gateway site. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=294088 |

Solve : I cant install my Printer? |
Answer» Hello, i wanted some help from computer profesionals so i made this massage. I have windows 10(64bit) and i hahve a [Canon i-sensys MF3010] printer. i already downloaded drivers and softwere aswell as installing them. i tryed every single way i could think of and still nothing when i try to uninstall a softwhere or driver the uninstallation will not respond so i cant redo it. I tryed it by uplying it in drivers and printers but i cant do that it doesn't work. and when i try to install it easy way by and exe program i go thrue all the STEPS but on the last it says plug in your printer to finish the installation but when i do it does nothing{ my guess is that my printer in panel is named and unrecognized USB and the program searches for mf3010 and it doesn't find it cause it's named unrecognized} so im asking help from u to help with my problem. Tnx have a nice day I am trying to install a canon I-sensys MF3010 printer and when I put the software disc into the computer I get a message which says the followingBut MS told that person to REFER to the Cannon support. Sad to say, Cannon did not provide much detail. This link claims it is easy. http://resetterprinters.com/2014/12/canon-i-sensys-mf3010-driver-download.html Go down to where is says "How to Install Printer Drivers" After you unpack the driver, you have to run it. Hope this helps. Before using a program with an UNKNOWN reputation, back a backup of everything and set system restore pints. Some very aggressive their-party tricks do PERMANENT harm to the system. From the Microsoft forum: Quote The last computer that I worked on where some other "tech" had used Driver Booster had to be reformatted and have the operating system reinstalled.I agree. |

Solve : Is it Firefox? Video is stalling. Moving mouse, it comes alive?? |
Answer» Thanks for looking at my problem today. Use another Browser. Chrome does video better. Source please ? ? Quote from: patio on July 30, 2015, 01:10:51 AM Source please ? ?Personal experience on Amazon Prime. Adobe Flash and Firefox on XP do not work well, but Chrome om XP can handle Flash OK. This kind of thing has happened before. But now it is a recent development. Possibly Adobe will fix it or already has. The OP should try Chrome and also try the newest Adobe flash for Fire Fox. Presently I can use Fire Fox 39 and Adore flash 18 on Windows XP and it works good now. A few days ago it did not. No explanation. Thanks Geek-9pm for the reply... I forgot to add in my original post that, Apoint.dll Failed to load.. box comes up every time I restart or boot up. My apologies. My research on that told me it has something to do with Dell mousepad??? function. I have tried chrome. ( varied opinion for me ).. IE doesnt work at all for some reason. Dont care anyway. I noted in my post I have Vista home didnt I Geek-9pm ? (Yes ) had to check.. yep vista. I tried to wind back Firefox to an earlier release but lost most if not all of my bookmarks in the process. ( Not to worry though I have several backups around for when I iron out this problem finally. ) I originally thought I had a virus from Facebook Geek-9pm & went through all the scans & procedures for cleaning out virus via our Computer virus & spyware removal section here by evilfantasy. Thank you Mark.Sorry, I missed that detail. You might consider moving up to a newer OS, like Windows 7. At one time there was some kind of option for Vista users to get Widows 7ot into a deal where you buy Vista and later MS sends out a Windows 7 right off the he press. I am using it now, just took a long time for all the UPDATES. I had not used it fo awhile and did afresh install. Anyway, Windows 7 and Firefox and Adobe behave well together. Therefore, based on my experience, the issue is from using an older OS. But I could be wrong. Thanks for the reply Geek-9pm. What about Windows 10.. I have a legal copy ( this is Vista Home) I should be able to upgrade to 10.Vista does not qualify for the free upgrade...It was reported only 7 and 8 can update. However, this news flash just now. Upgrade to Windows 8.1 from Windows Vista or Windows XP There is an upgrade path from Visa to windows 8.1 and from there you go to Windows 10. But it is not a free lunch. You have to pay along the way. You might get a real cheap license for Windows 7. This is a credible link: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1890316/cheapest-place-windows.html Quote Check your local electronic store around Black Friday. As for online - usual places like Newegg, Amazon etc. Sorry, I can not offer more help. Geek you can update to Win 10 from any OS...i was stating which are free and which are not...Thanks for your replies my friends. I think we have diverged away from the question with the answers. The options presented dont actually address the problem. Now I dont want to put you offside, but a computer that used to work fine some months ago but now has difficulty in playing video from different sources, has generated responses of: Defrag the drive Use another browser Use an older version of flash Change the operating system Update to flash 18 Upgrade to win 10. I was more thinking that it might have had something to do with the mousepad.. Apoint.dll failing to load? As I mentioned moving the mouse makes the video responsive for a short time. Quote from: ImnoGuru on July 30, 2015, 02:34:01 AM Thanks Geek-9pm for the reply... I forgot to add in my original post that, Apoint.dll Failed to load.. box comes up every time I restart or boot up. My apologies. Can anyone find out something more about Apoint.dll & how I can cure that screen from opening at startup then please? Thanks ImnoGuru. I am thinking of using one or more of the recommended driver update programs on offer (from just about every website on the net). Does anyone have any recommendations of a good source for Windows driver updates please? Thank you ImnoGuru.Driver finder apps are garbage...stay away from them. Visit the Manuf. site of all components for best results... Quote Now I dont want to put you offside, but a computer that used to work fine some months ago but now has difficulty in playing video from different sourcesYour resoling is sound. I have two or three PCs at my disposal. They work fine. But video sites like Netflix, Amazon and YouTube vary in their quality of service. For one thing. Adobe flash is a wimpy video server. For some time Microsoft was offering Silver light to play streaming video over the Internet. It is was better. But just now MS has pulled it, apparently. IMO, the changes made by the service companies have a lot to do with our computers becoming slow or weak on video feeds. Proof? Well, companies that are very serious aboutvide3o streaming with either give you the best possible service or let you download for better viewing. Therefore, it was never my computer, it was the software and service they used that made the difference. Every day there are commercial and other interests that provide reliable video feeds for their conferences and conventions all over the USA. The use the Internet or a VPN over the Internet to serve reliable video feeds. Of course, they never have a 100,000 people asking for video on demand. Rather, a venue where hundreds of attendees are viewing a SINGLE broadcast. The program is later repeated for other times zones or schedules. What I am saying is the video on demand service has a hard time serving a large group that is not paying a lot of money. But just now, for some reason, even my old XP system is working good on Amazon using Adobe. I think they changed something. Windows 10 is no problem. No explanation. Who knows? Thanks patio. I did what you suggested & Dell had a download that sort of fixed part of the problem. The download got my mousepad utilities back & scrolls well now & some of the issues with playing video are working a little better too. I did the update to flash 18... but alas the video still stalls... not as often but still there. I think Geek-9pm has it, they must have changed something in one of the updates over the past few months & thats where I got left behind.. Sometimes it works .. sometimes it doesnt. Right now, I have got rid of the "cannot run L U N A C H E R . dll".. (I capped it to demonstrate that it is not launcher as a lot of people are calling it.) The dell updates gave me back some video use & fixed the mousepad use, & I updated all that I could find. Thanks for your help.. I guess this is in the best condition I can get it in for now. Geek-9pm you have windows 10? I heard there were security issues with it. Something about technicians trying to reset the defaults & taking 13 different screens to edit the security preferences? Do you have any info on that at all? Thank you ImnoGuru. |

Teredo is a temporary measure. In the long term, all IPv6 hosts should USE NATIVE IPv6 connectivity. Teredo should be disabled when native IPv6 connectivity becomes available. Christian Huitema DEVELOPED Teredo at Microsoft, and the IETF standardized it as RFC 4380. The Teredo server listens on UDP port 3544. Did you SEARCH the Microsoft web site? Teredo tunneling pseudo interface Sad to say, many have asked. but few answers found. This video might help. Teredo Tunneling Pseudo Interface Driver download |

Solve : XP to AHCI help, please? |
Answer» I NEED help figuring out how to change my IDE to SATA in XP HOME. I am going crazy. SATA hard drives have become more and more appreciated tending to substitute the IDE drives due to the increasing speed they offer. Motherboard manufacturers started to implement the new standard years ago, when the technology was young and expensive. Now, as the SATA HDD prices have lowered to a level where anybody can afford to choose a SATA enabled HDD instead of an IDE one, a great migration has been observed among the common computer users. For more, click on the link. |

Solve : Serious Display Driver Problem? |
Answer» HI! First of all thanks in advance for any assistance you might provide. I'm growing really desperate with this. In April I've purchased a Dell XPS 13, i7, intel HD5500, touch-screen ultrabook, with Windows 8.1 Pro - OEM version. For about a month I had no issues at all, installed some programs and games, played them as normal, graphical performance seemed really good. Windows updated as normal. In May, while playing Civ 5, I started getting the dreaded "Video Display Driver stopped working and has recovered error", which exited the game. Searched the internet, went to the Dell website, autodetected my pc and installed latest graphic drivers, but also chipset and bios, the whole thing. Things got worse, not better. The error started showing up a lot more frequently and sometimes the screen froze, went blank intermittent with pixelized multicolored and polygon-filled screens. This started happening also on the log in screen, to the point that I COULD no longer enter Windows at all. Blue Screens started to show up a lot with the VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (igdkmd64.sys). I performed several hardware TESTS via Bios Diagnostics and other similar software, all OK. Virus check: OK. I read that this type of problem only usually occurs when playing videos or other graphic INTENSIVE software...to me it happens everywhere and all the time when not under the basic windows driver! I decided to try to recover back windows. Did not work. Only thing that worked was entering safe mode, uninstalling the display driver and reverting it back to the 2006 basic windows one. That was the only way I could normally load Windows without any GLITCHES. This would be fine by me, except games got a lot slower and performance suffered a lot. This is no way to operate this kind of machine... So I tried to reset windows altogether using a media generated USB pen and same OEM activation key. Problem: When reinstalling Windows, it presents the same problem. The driver it comes with (although a different version of the one on the Dell site) also makes the screen unstable and unusable. Safe-mode is the only way to uninstall and roll-back to the basic driver. I've also tried CCleaner, putting the power profile to maximum performance, everything but tamper with registry and voltages. For extreme and risky stuff I prefer to activate the warranty. I've been speaking to Dell support but besides telling me it's a driver issue, all they've done so far is suggest different versions of the display driver (slightly older than the current one), which simply provide the same result. I could go on using the basic windows display driver from 2006, but I'm immensely frustrated by having purchased this expensive ultrabook just to see it drag it's feet. What can have gone wrong that not even a clean install got rid of this problem?? Please...help!I'd suggest escalating the issue with Dell and insisting on a replacement. The computer is less than 60 days old - you should not be having these problems.Have you tried an external monitor via the VGA or HDMI connection? As you didn't screw around with the .ini files or change any of the driver connections, and have rolled back any software based changes you have made, I believe it's a hardware problem. It looks to me like the screen is not talking to the OS correctly which can be caused by something as silly as a bad adapter or cable. Sometimes I/O errors produce funky results when troubleshooting. I agree with Allen, take it back to Dell. |

Solve : Display driver stopped responding and has recoverd? |
Answer» I am having a problem that may have been answered many times in this forum, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. I am running an HP Compaq dc7700p sff with Vista with an Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 1.86Ghz, 2 MB memory, 80 gig HD, with a Intel Q965/Q963 Express Chipset. I keep getting the error message "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered." This started happening about 3 weeks ago, and happens mainly when I try to watch a movie from my hard drive on VLC. Windows Media Player crashes if I try to play a movie on it. It also occurs when playing YouTube and Netflix videos at full screen. The symptoms are as follows: The video will freeze for a few seconds, the display will go black, the video comes back up digitized, it will begin playing again, then I 'll get the error message. I have tried the following. Running Microsoft Fixit (SEEMED to work for a day, then back to the same old same old) Manually checking the registry (all values are set as specified) Closing all open programs (Firefox is the memory hog) Uninstalling and reinstalling the display graphics driver (It's the most current). Also ran the Intel Driver Utility Tool and it says I'm current. Doing a clean install. Adjusting performance options for best performance Adjusting Visual Effects for best performance Adjusting VLC for best performance Have run memory diagnostics and everything seemed fine Have the total page filing size for all DRIVES set to recommended (Min. 16MB, Recommended 3045 MB, Currently allocated 2330 MB) Run SuperAntiSpyware, CCleaner, MalwareBytes, AVG and Spybot (no help) When I ran Xtremem Power Supply Calcllulator I got a minimum PSU wattage of 55 W and recommended PSU wattage of 105. Run Windows Update (odd thing here: SP1 will not install through update or manually no matter what I do after clean install.) I uninstalled/reinstalled SP1 yesterday. Windows Update shows the installation in History, but not in Computer PROPERTIES. I've also tried to install some programs like WeatherBug and I get a SP1 required message. There are probably some other fix tries I've attempted, but have forgotten now. I guess my question is: do I need to install a graphics CARD, and if so, what is compatible for this machine? And should I install more memory (I think the 32 bit will hold 4 gigs of 1 gig sticks per slot? If this is an old question, I apologize, but everything I have tried on other forums has not helped. |

Solve : BIOS doesn't have Virtualization option ! Help ! :-\? |
Answer» I started using android studio and to use the emulator i have to enable Virtualization in BIOS. But my BIOS doesnt have this option ! The BlueStacks client will load up in a desktop window with different app categories like games, social, and so on. Clicking on an app or searching does something unexpected — it brings up the full Play Store client as rendered on tablets. You can actually navigate AROUND in this interface just as you WOULD on a real Android device, which MAKES it clear there’s a lot more to BlueStacks than the “App Player” front end. In fact, you can install a third-party launcher like Nova or APEX from the Play Store and set it as the default. The main screen in BlueStacks with the app categories is just a custom home screen, so REPLACING it makes BlueStacks feel almost like a regular Android device.Could that work? Solve : Right click options on my sound device will not open, except mixer and options? |
Answer» My computer is connected to 2 audio sources only, HDMI to my TV and a USB that goes to my headset. So I have 2 audio programs, 1 which is the default windows one with the megaphone picture, the other one is HP beats audio. The default one doesn't work when on TV. HP audio beats always works even with TV so I use that to change audio devices if NEED be. So I thought this problem is no big deal if I just improvise. Everytime I change from my TV to my headset, the right click options that don't work suddenly pop up and start working(doesn't always work though), which is annoying because if I'm busy doing something it will minimize whatever I'm doing on the computer. |

Solve : Computer noob needs help? |
Answer» Hey there I am a complete COMPUTER noob, i don't know what hardware or software is or anything. Not even sure im posting in the right thread. Here is my problem, I bought this computer a few months ago off dino PC, it cost me a grand and said it had a stupid amount of SPACE on it, hence why i bought it. I used to have a crappy old 300 quid laptop that allowed me to have well over 30 steam games downloaded, as well as World of Warcraft, League of Legends, and some other mmo's. Whilst i do have wow downloaded, i have like 3 small steam games downloaded and it tells me i cant download anymore because i have low disc space. When i click on my computer to see whats going on (I have windows 8, dunno if that makes a difference) it says Local disc(C:) has 0 bytes free of 111GB. Next to that is DVD drive (D:) Audio cd. and next to that is new volume (E:) which has 898GB free of 931GB. Why wont stuff download onto that 1 . Need help please can you try to help me as though u were guiding a child, i dont understand computer mumbo jumbo. Thanks in advance for any help. Not sure why you have your hard drive split to C and E unless you have a SSD as C: and E: is a 1TB drive. |

Answer» I'm at a loss as to how to get rid of install wizard message, "Found New Hardware - Windows needs to install driver software You need to re-install the MBoard chipset drivers for that PC...they will be on the Driver CD that shipped with the PC. The laptop drivers should only come from the laptop manuf. site...enter your Model # and Win version. Do this with the printer disconnected...then reinstall the Printer software with it STILL dis-connected...in the install it will prompt you for when to plug it in...Just to clarify why you need to do it this way...the message you are getting involves the MBoard drivers for the laptop...once thats fixed and you re-do the printer software you should be good to go... |

Solve : It's built! Any specific order to install drivers/updates?? |
Answer» Finaly got the computer built over the weekend. Now I just NEED to install all the drivers, right? Install drivers first - get them from the manufacturers of the various equipment, NOT from Microsoft Update. And although it's not as crucial today as it once was, it's still probably best to start with the chipset driver. 1: When you install drivers 1st you mean everything I 1st listed is that correct? Is there any specific order to download? See 1-4 above. 2. When you say install chipset driver. What exactly is that? Chipset is on the MOBO? So that would mean to update drivers for MOBO? 3. AV: That is also on the MOBO? What is AV and why is it best to have updated when online? Thanks for your help.Yes...MBoard chipset drivers 1st...then re-boot then all others... For now use all the Driver CD's that you have...then A/V as Allan suggested. After all is up and running you can check for updates... What is the AV? Isn't the AV driver available when updating the MOBO drivers? Quote from: patio on May 04, 2015, 09:03:54 AM Yes...MBoard chipset drivers 1st...then re-boot then all others...Quote from: frldyz on May 04, 2015, 09:10:06 AM Anti-virus.Thank you.BTW, to avoid having to redo everything at some point down the road - AND to give you a means of getting back to a clean install, you should use disc imaging software and create images after various steps of the process - certainly after installing all MS updates. |

Solve : AUDIO PROBLEM? |
Answer» DEAR Friends my system was Running windows xp. day before yesterday i installed Windows 7. After wards Audio is not available. some time it says driver is corrupt. some times says DEVICE is not installed. My mother board is ASUS P8H61-M LX3 R2.0. i went to asus site and download all the related drivers. still sound is not working. can anyone help. thanks aneebHi there, A bit more information may be REQUIRED to successfully diagnose this issue. Firstly, what sort of graphics are you currently using? Is it an HDMI-ready graphics card? If so, it could be as simple as windows not understanding which audio device you wish to use (HDMI supplies both audio and video channels). This can be resolved by opening the Control Panel from the Start menu/orb, then selecting audio devices and changing the DEFAULT audio output device. This will only work if you have a working, installed audio driver, however. Likewise, if your monitor has built-in speakers, and is connected via HDMI to your video card, you will want to select this HDMI audio device as the default audio device. I understand you said there may have been some issues with the audio driver during installation- does it always report a FAILURE or other error when you attempt to install the audio drivers? If so, what is the reported error? If not, check out Device Manager to see whether the device is reporting any errors/conflicts (right-click "Computer" then select "Manage" [authenticate as administrator] and within the new window that appears, find Device Manager in the left Window-pane). Look for any icons that indicate error (red or yellow colored icons) or disabled hardware (icon with an arrow pointing downward). If within the audio devices category you find no errors, then you should have a valid, installed driver. If you see an indication of error, double-click the afflicted device to view the status code. Please report back with the status code(s) of any troubled hardware and we can go from there. |

Solve : What should I do with new Drivers?? |
Answer» With the help of a utility from Ashampoo software I downloaded a very large number of new Drivers for my old WXP which I had not used for four years DUE to illness. They are now sitting in a Temporary folder, each with obscure numerical names which give no clue what they are for. Do they get used automatically, or do I have to install them individually to each program / device or whatever. If so how do I do this? There are about 50 in total so it could be a major job! I now have a W8.1 Tablet but I went to keep the XP going aswell, for a few more years. |

Solve : Graphics Driver issue? |
Answer» I have a Dell Latitude D630, a few minutes after I start up the laptop and sometimes even later on, the computer just crashes. This all began after a year or two of use for the first time yesterday while I was gaming. I suspect that the ISSUE is from the graphics drive considering the fact that the screen will just flicker then crash. Sometimes when I restart after a crash, the SCREE splits and turns a slight green color with lines everywhere. I have to restart a few times to get it back to normal. This issue is becoming a nuisance as I never really know when it is going to act up and shut down. |
