Solve : Connected to WiFi network but can no longer connect computers?

Answer»

I have a desktop and a laptop. Both running Win 7, I had installed a wireless router and connected them both to the NETWORK, this was working FINE ,file sharing and everything worked great, then all of a sudden the computers will no longer connect. I have tried reinstalling the router, ip config release/renew, interesting enough the computers will ping with the Computer name but not with the ip address. Does anyone know whats going on here? How many firewalls do you have? Check your firewall and security options and default settings. You may want to use just one for testing. Check for any firmware version updates for your router/modem.The firewall settings are all the same as when the connection was working, I turned them off anyway just to try but that did not work. And there are no updates to the router's firmware.Wireless Router Brand?
Some Win 7 Connection Tips : http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-7/windows-7-cannot-connect-to-internet/The wireless router brand is D-Link. And I'm sorry I did not clarify that both computers connect to the internet just fine they just won't connect to each other. They SHOW up on the network but when I try to connect I get the error code 0x80070035.
Are you experiencing this code error on both laptop and desktop? On your Win 7 Laptop, were you prompted for Username and Password before you had access? If yes, then try to re-create your password on your laptop. Yes the same error code is coming up for both computers. And there is no longer any prompt for the username and password ...there used to be before the troubles .

PS Thanks for the effort It is appreciated.Quote

Which means password protected sharing was ON before the trouble. So at the moment there was no password prompt which is OFF could mean its in for public sharing or access. Go to Network Sharing Center and Advanced Sharing Settings --> TURN ON network discovery
--> Turn ON Public folder sharing(If homegroup is used) for desktop/laptop
Password Protected Sharing --> Turn ON Password Protected Sharing
If problems still occur during password prompt is ON, Re-create a password for your laptop.Ok Somehow through all the advice it now works. Thank you, Im not quite sure what it was EXACTLY but it now works.

Thank You.

Now I have a new problem Which I will start a new thread.
