Solve : Connection Network - Windows XP + PS2?

Answer»

Hello,

Here's my set up... Windows XP Home Edition on my PC, with a Cable Modem, and U.S. Robotics Router. What I'm trying to do is set up to play online games with my PS2 and XBox 360. Whenever I log on with one of the gaming systems, a message pops up on the PC saying there is a another machine using the same IP. I've always been under the impression that a router splits the connection so it can be shared.

My question is, what am I doing wrong? Do I need a secondary IP from my Internet Provider? Do I need to change some settings in the router or PC?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses. The router should be assigning unique IPs for every DEVICE connected to it. So YES I think you need to configure your router.
On your computer could you PLEASE try the following:
Select start and Run...
TYPE cmd and press enter
type ipconfig /all
Post the text the command returns.
(you can copy text by right clicking the command window and selecting Mark. Then drag a box around the text. Right click the white box and it should disappear, then you can paste the text into a reply here.)
I'll be sure and do that as soon as I get home, writing from work right now. Thanks for the response.
