Solve : Cooling CPU? |
|
Answer» What else can I do to COOL down the CPU? Blowing out i.e. sucking air out from the casing, isn't that should be it? The one at the front should blow in. The one at the back should blow out. The power supply fan will blow out as well. Can you use an application (or quickly jump into the BIOS) to determine the temperature of the system? You said the CPU is 80 C, what is the system? If the system is 50 C or less, then the problem is your cpu heat sink. Its probably not making good contact with the CPU. The socket 775 sinks are really hard to install. You have to make sure the little plastic tab is turned in the right direction (opposite the indicator arrow) which I believe is clock wise and then PUSH the heat sink down until the plastic tab is in the motherboard. Then you can press the tab and click it into the motherboard. When you are done, you'll know its right if the motherboard warps a bit (don't get me started about how bad that is, its intel's design after all). The nice thing about intel processors is you can't kill them with heat, but they will throttle themselves to prevent over heating so they won't run very well without the heat sink installed properly. Good luck, and take your time. As for the CPU fan, according to the spinning direction, I suspect it's actually blowing down, but I do feel wind above (and around) the heat sink. You mean the utility I use to determine the temperature? I use PC Probe II for the Asus board, and the temperature reading is the same as the one shown in BIOS's hardware monitor.
