Solve : Could not detect the wi fi network available?

Answer»

I have DELL inspiron N5010 with windows 7 (32 BIT) OS. I also have net protector installed in my laptop. I have Wi Fi available in college. Other laptops and my android phone could detect and use that network but my laptop could not even detect the wi fi range available.
Do I need to install any drivers to use Wi fi service available?
If yes, where could i get those drivers? On dells website only BLUETOOTH driver are available in networks section. i didnt find wi fi drivers there.
If drivers are not required what else shall i do to use wi fi service?Make sure WIFI is enabled. Some laptops have a FN (function) key combination to enable/disable and others have a switch located on the laptop to enable/disable. I'd look in device manager to make sure that there are no yellow warnings or red problems. I would also go into network adapter properties and make sure the wifi network adapter is enabled and not disabled.

Looking at the specs here:http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/brand_centre/dell/inspiron_15r_n5010/349068/specs

This laptop is: Wireless 802.11b, Wireless 802.11n, Bluetooth, Wireless 802.11g

So it should have no problems finding wifi networks unless the wifi is turned off, driver is corrupt, or wifi NIC is dead.my laptop has same function key for turning on wi fi and bluetooth. I have tried turning on that but it only turn on bluetooth not wifiQuote from: shrikanty on June 21, 2013, 11:22:59 PM

There is an option in BIOS to specify what the radio ON/OFF does.
Default is 802.11 on and Bluetooth off for Dell laptops.
One my friend told me windows 7 does not require wi fi drivers. is it true? if they are required how to check whether drivers are installed or not?I'd look in device manager and make sure that the wireless adapter is happy. It will be happy if it is listed and no yellow warnings or red x's showing the device disabled by the system. If you see warnings or a red X, then you likely need to install the correct driver for the wifi or the device that is complaining if other than wifi adapter.

If the wireless adapter is happy here, then I would go to network properties and see if it is enabled. A quick way to get there would be to open command prompt by entering CMD at the Start-> Search PROGRAMS and Files window.

At the DOS Shell window type IPCONFIG/ALL and press the enter key. Then SCROLL through the information and look for wireless adapter info. If no info is listed for wireless adapter and only the regular network adapter then its disabled or driver is missing.

Here is a link to drivers for Windows 7
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/inspiron-15-intel-n5010As suggested i went to device manager. 2 devices have yellow warning there. I tried to update drivers automatically. but windows failed to locate drivers. (automatic installation is enabled in device installation setting).
The link provided in last post have list of various driver for MS Windows 7 64 bit. But may OS is MS Windows 7 32 bit. Are these drivers suitable for my use?
Which drivers should I download for bluetooth peripheral device and network controller from the list of 48 drivers available at given link.
Please have look at images attached.
