Solve : CPU upgrade problem? |
|
Answer» TUTORIALS on installing a heatsink will usually ADVISE installing the CPU and heatsink/fan on the motherboard before installing the motherboard if you are starting with a DISASSEMBLED system. This is simply because it's easier to work with the motherboard out in the open. But, it's not necessary to remove an installed motherboard to replace the heatsink and fan unless you find it impossible to work in the constricted space. Note: I'm assuming all motherboard standoffs were properly installed when the motherboard was installed. So there may be room to access the backside of the MoBo while in place? Do you mean to provide extra support while removing and installing a heatsink? I guess there could be, although I rather doubt it. It's going to DEPEND on how your case is designed. Since you still seem concerned about this, perhaps you should go ahead and remove the motherboard to do it. |
