Solve : D-Link DL-514 - options??

Answer»

I posted a query other day but no replies.

Situation is ........ recent upgrade from Direcway 6000 modem to new Hughes net HN7000s. On old set up had, IIRC the router set to 192.168.0.2 - as the modem has that ever common 192.168.0.1 - this gave good results with computer lan cord going into WAN skt of router and distribution then to main COMP and backup - all was fine.

Following the new set up router is blocking data - no good. Having to feed the main puter only direct via the ethernet link to modem.

Main problem however is, having reset the router - it is back to 192.168.0.1 and I want to change the IP again but - when I bring that IP up in browser i get the username /password deal request for router.

Hmmm - username no probs as that was email ADDY but - danged if I recall the password.!!!! Even power off and back on - no dice - it still wants password! Have tried examples of what I could have USED (THREE plus years ago!) but no luck so far.

Any bright ideas?Ok - got thru that hurdle - using a simple ''admin'' and blank p'word .. per the manual.! Should have thought of that!

However - thus far no changes to static IP have helped ... seems the puter ''remembers'' the old 192.168.0.2 - but tried 0.3 and 0.5 and no dice.

Anyone good at setting this darned thing up? The so called ''wizard'' fails miserably.
