Solve : dBm question?

Answer»

I have this horrible internet called Hughesnet that's satellite internet and I asked somebody for their Cox/Cable Login information and curious if -50/-51 dBm is an acceptable connection for a HOTSPOT that's 500 yards away.

Note: I have the 7 dBi Alfa branded panel with AWUS036H.

[attachment deleted by admin to conserve space]If you dont have packet loss and its working, I would SAY its good. Is that 88% signal strength in the pic you shared? The signal is AROUND 88% to 92% with 12 to 15 ping with no packet loss during a 10 minute test.

I tried it online with Smite, Paladins and Tera with each game around 70-100 ping compared to Hughesnet with 500 - 1200 ping.Looks like you found a better internet connection then.

70-100ms isnt bad. For online gaming it seems like mainly just the first person shooters are latency critical due to headshots etc. With those games and PvP you should be ok.
