Solve : Error with sharing folder?

Answer»

I tried sharing a folder using sharing and SECURITY on 'Computer A' by right clicking the folder that I want to share and then CLICK sharing and security. When I reach a page where it is under a Sharing tab, I checked(or select) the "Share This Folder" option and set the permission for Everyone to "Full Control" and click apply and OK on both windows. When I go to 'Computer B' under "My Network Places" to access the folder that I have shared using 'Computer A', I couldn't gain access to it even though I have set full control. It displays:

\\(name)\\(folder I want to share) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network name cannot be found.Sorry I forgot to include the next sentence.

Can anyone tell me what is the problem? Help would be much appreciated.try only having ONE slash after the system name.

example:
\\system\folderQuote from: wbrost on NOVEMBER 19, 2009, 08:38:20 AM

how?

ok lets say I have two systems. Sys1 and Sys2.
Make a share on Sys2 named called data
On Sys1 click run and type the following:
\\Sys2\data

if your share is active and your are on the same WORKGROUP or domain you should connect to the remote system. Please let me know fi you have any questions. That method doesn't work mine was always single slash instead of double. Could the problem lies in the IP address, router or any physical networking equipment? One of the computer is using wireless connection and both are windows xp pro.ok what do you see if you go into your work group? Do you see the system listed? Can you ping the IP address of the other system?yup there's network that's why I'm finding out the problems to my question.ok can you ping the IP address of the remote system? Do you see the remote system listed in the network neighborhood I could ping my network everything is in working order except the folder which cannot be shared even when I have networkis this solved?!~

if not try disabling the firewall for both computernot yet solved stillGo to the properties of your network cards and make sure that file and printer sharing is checked.
