Solve : Ethernet adapter disapeared?

Answer»

Reinstalled XP Home on Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop. Cant GET a wireless connection now. Called cable company, modem is fine. Called Dell, they want money, so I said forget it.

My cable company had me go thru control panel / system / hardware / device manager/ and we found that I dont have a Local Area Connection. He told me to get an ethernet adapter from Dell. Went to website, and it says to use the Dell Inspiron Resource CD. Well, I dont have one. I bought the laptop second hand and the CD they gave me with it, was for a dimension. I didnt realize. It DOESNT solve the problem. Any one out there have this CD that they could zip and email to me?

Typical.

If you have an internet cable, attatch on end to the router and the other end to your computer and see what happens.
I don't THINK anyone here would send a CD, sorry about that.If you return to Dell's site and enter the service TAG# on the bottom of the laptop it will show your machine and what drivers you NEED for it....

If this is not fruitful try the Dell support Forums which have a ton of info.::)thank you to all who replied to my post. It is now working. Still going to try and find a copy of that resource cd though. they are always useful!!!!!No problem. Just stop by if you have any questions or problems.
