Solve : ethernet adapter help? |
|
Answer» i have a dell XPS 400, reformatted the hd, reinstalled windows xp, used to dell support to find the drivers i needed, downloaded and open the drivers for the ethernet adapter, but still not working, still a yellow "?" on the ethernet controller, and when i run the troubleshoot it says the drivers are not enabled (code 29), any help would be great. thanx in advance Quote from: mrclownshoes on December 19, 2011, 09:03:22 PM ...downloaded and open the drivers for the ethernet adapter...What do you mean "open the drivers"? There should be 1 file which you execute (double-click). it will extract all the files to a C:\dell\"folder name", and should run the setup automatically. If not, double-click the extracted setup file.did all thatWrong drivers, possibly?when i enter my service tag on dell support, it gives me 2 drivers, one for wired, and one for wirelessHTTP://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123 Code 29: This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29) Quote Recommended resolutionHow do I do that exactlyWhen you first start your computer, before it boots into an OS, there will be something along the lines of "Press [a key] to enter Setup Configuration/BIOS/Setup Utility/Configuration Menu." In the BIOS, look for something along the lines of "Hardware," "Devices," etc. GO INSIDE that tab and you may be able to enable/disable your ethernet adapter. I noticed you wrote "ethernet adapter" is it an adapter in a PCI slot or do you just mean the ethernet port on the motherboard?EDIT: I found your XPS 400 BIOS Setup Manual: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps400/sm/syssetup.htm There is a tab called "Onboard Devices," under which you have to set "Integrated NIC Controller" to "On with PXE."I also face this problem in Dell desktop pc and using window 7. i installed window 7 but always massage me internet driver not found what i do any one help me.
