Solve : Ethernet connection 'unidentified network' with no net connectivity?

Answer»

Hey, ive recently tried to set up a wired connection on my PC but am not getting anywhere on my own (few hours of looking for solutions) so its probably time to get some help.

Im running windows 7. Wireless has always worked fine till i snapped the receiver in half. My laptop's wireless works fine, as does a wired connection using the same cable.

Troubleshoot gives me 'local AREA connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration'. ipconfig /renew times out with 'Cannot renew Ip address and Unable to contact your DHCP server'.

ipconfig shows:

Did you DAMAGE your desktop wireless card?
For a direct Ethernet connection, you may have to do the Network Wizard over again.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/setting-home-network#1TC=windows-7

You will have to do this for the Ethernet connection.

If done of this helps, pleases come back and tell what happens.
Do the IPConfig again.

It was a wireless usb, but i really should be using a more direct connection anyways, so the wireless isnt really the issue.

When i run 'Set up a new connection or network' then 'set up a new network' nothing APPEARS in the box after waiting 90 seconds+How are you connected on your network by wired? By a wireless router connected by a modem or by a direct modem? Did you try reinstalling your Ethernet driver? Its directly connected to the modem. I have re-installed the drivers now, which did not fix the problem. You may need to reset TCP/IP try following this guide and let us know how it works.
