Answer» Greetings, I am at my fathers house and when ever IM over here i have to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi. The problem is the distance is not really that far but when we SECURE the NETWORK with WEP the Wi-Fi range shortens by a lot. I like the distance of an unsecure network but i like the security of a secure one. So anyone know how i can extend the range a little by tweaking the settings?
Linksys: WAP54G V.2 Lots of things can interfere with wireless COMMS - microwaves, walls, cordless phones... etc. Try changing the channel your router is using (take it out of "Super G" mode, if necessary). If it's set to channel 1, change it to 6 or 11, etc. That's the first thing to try.
