Answer» Windows xp SP2 Router: D-Link G Router Firewall: Norton
I replaced my Netgear Router with D-Link G Router and everything works well except I can not view my other computers on the network unless I turn the Norton Firewall off. I've gone into the confirguration of my firewall to allow every possible program and file sharing, but to no AVAIL. I didn't have this problem with my Netgear Router and this firewall configuration, but I was USING a WEP encryption. Now I am using a WPA encryption with this router. Any suggestions
LaloNorton has been a source of aggravation for years
I'd dump Norton like a hot potato and use the routers firewall.
ALAN <>< What's the exact title and version of your Norton/Symantec product (that contains the firewall)? With this information we may be able to find the documentation and put a "second" pair of eyes on the configuration options that are available.
Were your computers configured for file and print sharing before or after Norton was installed?I have Norton Internet Security 2007. Norton was installled before I installed my new router. This configuration was fined with my old Netgear router, but was using a WEP encryption. Now I am using WPA2.
LaloYou MIGHT TRY this from the Symantec website.
You should be using "WPA2" if available, it provides better security than "WEP". That being said, switching from WEP to WPA2 shouldn't affect your ability to see the network computers.
You should also verify that your networked computers are in the same "workgroup".
