ok this is an ip question...visited a site tried to login using a username and password that was being USED by someone else...a window opend up said my ip was flagged and a google map showed my general location...also said a message was going to be sent to the admin of that site...can i get into trouble for this? Not nearly enough info provided to answer your question, "a username and password that was being used by someone else." Why were you using someones else' s P/W and username obviously without their knowledge and permission? Give some thought to coming clean to the affected party and seek their forgiveness if that falls within the realm of consequences otherwise pack as you may be taking a trip.truenorthtruenorth, its his first post.

Thee is no law about using a name and password from a new location. With Air TRAVEL today, one COULD be thousands  of miles away in a few hours and log in from a different location over the world wide web.

I think there is something wrong with a web site that says you are using another person's  account. How could they know?Geek, "Not nearly enough info provided " truenorthYes, not MUCH to go on . It could have been an innocent error.
My guess is that the user name was already in use, he wanted to use that name, did not know the name was in use and wanted to start a new account with that name. He then entered the wrong password, did not understand why the password was not allowed, try again two times and got the rude message.

My personal experience is so many sites MAKE it very hard to log in because of oblique and value language usage and rude threats. Yet some administrators believe hardship means security. They are wrong. A password stealing bot can not be stopped with threats because the bot is not human.
