Solve : Have a Safe Summer. Be Careful.?

Answer»

Have a Safe Summer. Be Careful.
Now is a good time to GET away from your computer and enjoy the summer outdoors. But take care. If you are not an experienced outdoors person, you can have real trouble.
Every year we read about children and teens being killed in water accidents or climbing mishaps.
What about insect bites? We don't hear much about that unless it is sensational. But every year many people suffer loss of health or even life because of insect bites. There are a number of very serious disuses that are transmitted by just one bite of a small insect. Not to mention allergic reactions.
Don't risk it. It takes just a little effort to prevent insect bites.

  • Protective clothing
  • Insect repellant.
  • Avoid insect areas.
  • Take a bath when you return from an outing.
Don't let carelessness ruin your summer fun.
Well, Geek, thanks for the advice. And while we're at it, what about swimming in abandoned quarries, getting drunk and falling over, running with SCISSORS, jaywalking, teasing bears, and eating dodgy tiramisu?
Here in Ohio, we've had a lot of hot days with high humidity, making the "heat index" some days in the range of 100-105 degrees F or higher.  As far as I can tell, the weather service issues heat warnings when the heat index is around 100 or higher.  For some folks, this REQUIRES some caution about engaging in outdoor activity.

Shifting to another subject, I've spent a little time this summer observing birds and learning more about them.  As a result of actually paying some attention to birds, I believe I've seen more Northern Cardinals and American Goldfinch in the last two months than I've seen during my entire life before this time.  I've also seen a bird this summer that I don't recall ever seeing before.  If I've correctly identified it, as I believe I have, it's the House Finch.  Thank you for your expression of concern Geek-9PM.
Soybean, Yes as a  continuous residents of our current home ( SE Ontario,Canada) for 44 years we have noticed a tremendous change in our bird population (particularly in the past 10-15 years). We have species here now that weren't here before then. Also some plants that would not survive here then do now.It used to be that to have assurance that your garden stock would survive you had to plant around the 1st of June and harvest before labour day. Now we can usually plant at the end of April and harvest as late as the end of October. Things they are a changing.truenorthThank you for expanding g my post. Normally, birds and bats help control the insect population.  In areas where Humans have changed the ecosystem, by deforestation, the insect and bird populations become disturbed. A recent report shows the increase of malaria in Brazil in areas that have recently be harvested.

In any case, wherever h you are, protect yourself. The treat is real. Taking precancerous does not mean you are paranoid, just prudent. BTW, some anecdotal stories indicate that people who sit all day in from of a computer are more likely to be a free lunch for insects when outdoors.
Nevermind... i was going to say something.patio,Oh cummon your pearls of wisdom are always very enlightening.truenorth
