Answer» I am having a hard time changing my IP address. If any of you can offer step by step or suggest a SITE to go for specific help, that would be most appreciate.
I need a new IP because I would like to post on an NHL website. I have been banned because I sent out a survey thread asking about fanbase interests, for a project, and did not realize this was considered spam. I tried to register with a new name, but due to it being on the same IP, this was not authorized, and every subsequent name I choose has not been allowed.
I have 1) Comcast High Speed Internet, connected by a linksys router, but can also be hard wired to the Comcast modem if needbe. 2) Windows XP.
Step so Far 1) I was able to change my ip address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1...yet this made NO difference. -Why and what can I do?
Thanks!I can tell you how to do that step by step, or would you rather have a site where you can do that from? The method might not be good for your computer security.
If you trying to change your IP address because you are just trying to access web based forums you may wish to attempt to configure your internet browser to use a PROXY server. This is actually the sort of information we don't provide here. We don't advocate bypassing blocks such as this. If you wish to gain access to the forum again, your BEST bet is contacting the admin and pleading your case.May I ASK why you want to do this?Quote from: Ivy on December 12, 2008, 09:07:52 PM I can tell you how to do that step by step, or would you rather have a site where you can do that from? Thanks! Can you give me step by step instructions to do this?I already tried...no luck...once banned...you are not allowed back...and by registering. I like to talk about the NHL...and this is the board to do it on...so please...if I can get help changing the IP that would be excellent.I'm sorry. There are several easy ways to get around this, but it's not something we discuss here (Ivy is in the wrong for trying to aide in this). They had their REASONS for banning you and I'm sure they wouldn't be happy if we helped you undermine their authority. We get lots of requests like this (some for the same NHL forum, actually) and our response is always the same. I'm not trying to be a jerk here; this is just how we work. We respect other forums' policies, just like we expect people to respect our own.
And besides, changing your IP wouldn't actually work anyway. You would have to actually switch to another service provider.
