Solve : Help connecting to the internet...?

Answer»

Heres my scenario... I currently am renting a HOUSE where I receive free cable from my landlords LINE the lines are connected from our house to his as well as any PHONE lines.  We had no need for a phone land line as we always use cells.  However I want internet access, I am currently ABLE to pick up on what I believe is his wirelesly but I can only be in one room.  I want to be able to take my computer anywhere in the house.  Question being can I just buy a new modem and hook it into the cable outlet or a router to get a stronger signal.

Really frustrating I did use Alltel wireless before so it wasn't an issue but it proved to costly for there company as we are pretty rural so they bought our service out.  I need OPTIONS.  Do I have any?1.  Free Cable.  Not sure what's on the "cable"...  And it's "free" because...
     a.  Does the cable carry TV programming?
     b.  Does cable company also offer Hi-Speed Internet connectivity over the cable?
     c.  Does anybody "pay" for this service?
     d.  Does landlord have an account for cable TV?
     e.  If yes, does landlord also have Hi-Speed Internet service through this account?
     f.  And you pick up "free" cable TV because the signal to his house (account) is "split" and fed to you?
     g.  But you don't get "free" Hi-Speed Internet access because...

2.  How close are the houses (in feet or meters)?

3.  Options.  Don't know...  The facts aren't clear yet.  You're probably in a better position than us to determine who the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are in your area and what type of Internet Connections they provide.
     a.  Cable
     b.  DSL
     c.  Satellite
     d.  Mobile Wireless
     e.  Dialup
