Solve : Help, I cannot connect to my college's internet through my laptop?? |
|
Answer» Hello, I am having issues connecting to my college's internet connection through my laptop I have used their internet several times before this issue. I was able to get in this morning, until Comodo Internet Security/Firewall pops up. Their connection does not require a password or a KEY to connect. As I speak, I am using the library's computer while looking at my laptop to provide the issues that I am having. ---------------------- As soon as I connected to my college's network, Comodo pops up and gives me a warning something similar to this, "This network is safe but users may be trying to gain access to this network or may be watching through another computer. Allow or Deny. I hit Deny because this was my first time using the program and I wasn't familiar with how it works. I didn't want PEOPLE to see what I was doing through the other end, so I hit deny. That's when I started having issues. * I have a Windows Vista 32 bit laptop and in the taskbar, there is an icon showing two monitors. When I am successfully connected to the internet, there is an Earth or Globe icon in the corner of the two monitors. When I am having a non-responding connection, there is just two blue monitors with nothing in the corner. When I am not connected at all, there is a red X in the corner of the laptops. When I am trying to connect to the college's internet, there is just two blue monitors with nothing in the corner. If I highlight that icon, it says "Currently Connected to: IRSC (College name) Access: Local Only and on the right there are 5 signal bars. So I tried connecting and reconeccting. Nothing happened. I went to *Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center In the top of the window it gives me an Icon with a Monitor with my computer name underneath it with a green line in between the monitor and the college connection then a gray line with a red x in between the college connection and the Internet. The Internet icon is gray. Underneath that, it gives me the status of my college connection. Access: Local Only Connection: Wireless Network Connection Signal Stength: (5 Bars) Excellent Underneath that, it gives me a little warning saying, "For Sharing and discovery to work properly, make sure the SETTINGS in your firewall program match the following settings.. Underneath that it says Sharing and Discovery Network discovery - *On File Sharing - *On Public Folder Sharing - *Off Printer Sharing - *Off Password Protected Sharing - *On Media Sharing *Off After this, I went to *Network and Internet > Manage Wireless Networks and I uninstalled their connection and installed it again. Still having issues. Then I immediately uninstalled Comodo Internet Security, restarted and connecting again and I still can't get into the internet. I went into Connect to a Network and CLICKED "Status" then clicked "Wireless Properties" and It gives me a list with 4 check boxes and these are the choices... *Connect automatically when this network is in range (Checked) *Connect to a more presffered network if available. (Checked) *Connect even if the network is not broadcasting (Not Checked) *Enable Atheros connection settings (Not checked) * I clicked properties, and the security settings are the following... *Security Type: (No authentication (Open) *Encryption Type: None * I clicked Diagnose and it gives me this error: Cannot communicate with DNS Server (192.168.0.1). Network diagnostics pinged the REMOTE host but did not recieve a response. > Windows found a problem that cannot be repaired automatically. Contact your internet service provider or network administrator for help or click here for more information about things you can try to help resolve the problem. So I clicked and then it gave me "Reset the network adapter "Wireless Network Connection" Resetting the adapter can sometimes resolve an intermittent problem." Then I clicked that, and then it says "Checking for other network problems... There still seems to be a problem with your connection. Then another Window pops up saying "Windows tried a repair but a problem still exists. Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server (192.168.01) I kept clicking it and I am still getting nowhere. * In Internet Explorer, I don't have the option to click "Diagnose Connection Problems." It is there, but it is not clickable. Please help me! What can I do to resolve this issue? Thank you. Try this site : http://www.antihacksecurity.com/the-news/67-comodo-firewall-known-issues |
