I says that your driver for your network card is not installed or did not start correctly at start up. Problem might be that your laptop drive cannot able to update properly. So simply restore your system by GOING to "system restore".
The Compaq Pre. F700 is a GOOD laptop. All you have to do is update your 6401A driver to a new version compatible with Windows XP.
