Answer» I have a laptop. I don't know EXACTLY what it is, but I know its an HP pavilion. Its OS is windows XP.
My Router is a Linksys wireless-G Broadband router. It gives internet to my Nintendo wii, which is LOCATED right next to my laptop, so I know the signal reaches that far. But, my laptop gets no internet.
Any help is appreciated.
If you have any questions, ask.Does this laptop have wireless capabilities...or is it hard wired to the router?
If it has wireless capabilities...is it enabled on the laptop? There may be a button located somewhere on the laptop that enables/disables the WLAN connection. Without knowing the model number of the laptop...it's hard to say for sure.
Has this laptop ever CONNECTED to the internet before? It has connected to a wired internet before. I checked its network connections, and it tells me theres a connection called "1394 connection" that IS connected. STILL no internet. There is a button on the keyboard called "Wireless". Ive tried pushing it, but nothing happens. When you press that button does a light go on or off?
Also...have you checked to see if the laptop can view any wireless connections in you area (including your router)? If the 1394 is connected...then you may need to repair the wireless connection, by simply right-clicking on that icon and choosing the Repair option.
Also...is your router protected by WEP, WPA? You may need to make sure the laptop can see your router and then, using the appropriate key...try to connect to it.A light does not go off. Ive tried to repair it once before, but it didnt work.
The laptop is an "hp pavilion zv5034us".
Ill check on what its protected by.
